THE PINNACLES DESERT

The Pinnacles are limestone formations contained within Nambung National Park, near the town of Cervantes, WA.

The Pinnacles remained unknown to most Australians until the 1960s. The area receives over 250,000 visitors a year. A visitor precinct and interpretive centre was completed in March 2008.

The best season to see the Pinnacles is spring from August to October, as the days are mild and wildflowers start to bloom. The pinnacle formations are best viewed in the early morning or late afternoon as the play of light brings out the colours and the extended shadows of the formations delivers a contrast that brings out their features. Most animals in the park are nocturnal, but emus and kangaroos can be seen during the daytime, more commonly in the evening or early morning.

Il deserto delle Pinnacles e' formato da rocce calcaree, si trova nel Nambung National Park, vicino alla citta' di Cervantes, WA.
Questo deserto e' stato sconosciuto alla maggior parte degli australiani fino agli anni '60.
Questa area riceve piu' di 250mila visitatori l'anno. Un centro visitatori e' stato completato nel Marzo 2008.
La miglior stagione per vedere le Pinnacles e' in primavera, da Agosto ad Ottobre, quando le giornate sono miti e i fiori iniziano a sbocciare. Le Pinnacles danno il loro meglio se viste al mattino presto o nel tardo pomeriggio, quando i giochi di luce esaltano i colori e le ombre offrono un contrasto che risalta le loro caratteristiche.
La maggior parte degli animali presenti nel parco, sono animali notturni, ma emus e canguri possono essere visti durante il giorno, piu' spesso il mattino presto o la sera.
